Caledon is the district government service centre, being home to the district/regional offices of the Department of Social Development, the Department of Education and the Department of Home Affairs.

Comprising seven towns, namely, Botrivier, Caledon, Genadendal, Grabouw, Greyton, Riviersonderend, Tesselaarsdal and Villiersdorp, Theewaterskloof Municipality is the largest local authority in the Overberg District, embracing the City of Cape Town on its western boundary and sharing the eastern coastline with the Overstrand Municipality. It is the most popular municipality in the Overberg District with 44% of the total district population. Its economic activity, as measured by Gross Regional Product, accounts for 41% of the broader District economy

EXECUTION OF A GENERAL VALUATION FOR THE MUNICIPALITY’S AREA OF JURISDICTION

In terms of section 30 of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act (Act 6/2004) the Council resolved to execute a General Valuation of all properties within its area of jurisdiction. ”The date of Valuation” in terms of the act will be 1 July 2012. The date of implementation will be 1 July 2013.

NOTICE: OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE – REVIEW AND ANALYSIS OF 2010/2011 ANNUAL REPORT

Notice is hereby given in terms of the MFMA Circular No 32 of the Municipal Finance Management Act, 2003 (Act 56 of 2003) that the Theewaterskloof Municipality’s Oversight Committee, responsible for the Review and Analysis of the 2010/2011 Annual Report is scheduled to meet as follows:

  1. 2 March 2012 - pose questions to Management to get clarity on the contents of the Annual Financial statements and the Annual Report.
  2. 9 March 2012 - Public hearings – The local community and any organ of state will be allowed to make representations on the annual report. (Venue: Town Hall, Time: 09 am).
  3. 13 March 2012 - Preparation of the draft oversight report, taking into consideration the views and inputs of the public, representatives of the Auditor General, organ of states, Councils audit committee and Councilors.
  4. 16 March 2012 – formulation of resolution to be considered by council.

The meetings will take place at 9am at the Council Chamber.

The Draft Annual Report for the 2010/2011 financial year was tabled at the Council Meeting of 25 January 2012 and made available for public comments from 31January 2012 to 24th February 2012.

The local public as well as organs of state are hereby invited to make submissions in writing on the Draft Annual Report as well as financial statements and submit no later than 6th March 2012 to the following address:

All comments will be scrutinized and representatives will be invited to make representations of their findings to the Oversight Committee on 09th March 2012.
